Principal's Message,

Dear Gotham Families,

We had another wonderful week at Gotham Avenue School! Our scholars continue to settle into their routines, reconnect with friends, and begin a new year of learning and growing together.

This week, our school community came together for our September 11th Remembrance Ceremony. Our scholars and staff gathered around the flagpole for the Pledge of Allegiance, a moment of silence, a flag-raising, and a musical tribute. It was a meaningful opportunity to honor and remember those we lost while teaching our scholars about courage, service, kindness, and unity.

Thank you to our families for your continued support and partnership. We are off to a great start, and I look forward to another successful week at Gotham!

Attendance

We are excited to share that Gotham Avenue School reached a 96% attendance rate this week! 🎉 Thank you to our families for making daily attendance a priority.

Coming to school every day helps students stay connected, build strong routines, grow academically, and enjoy all the wonderful learning experiences happening in their classrooms. We love seeing our students walk through our doors each morning, ready to learn, grow, and shine!

Let’s keep up the great work and continue aiming for a high attendance rate each week. Every student, every day, makes a difference! 💙📚

📱 ParentSquare & Dismissal: Keeping Communication Clear and Students Safe

ParentSquare is an important communication tool that helps strengthen the connection between our families and schools. We appreciate your continued use of ParentSquare to stay informed and communicate with your child’s teachers.

As a reminder, ParentSquare should not be used to communicate time-sensitive information, particularly changes to your child’s dismissal arrangements. Teachers may not be able to check messages during instructional time, may be absent from school, or may not receive a message in time to safely adjust dismissal plans.

To help us ensure the safety and proper supervision of every child, all changes to dismissal arrangements should be communicated directly to your child’s school main office. The main office will ensure that the appropriate staff members are notified.

Thank you for your partnership and for helping us maintain safe and consistent dismissal procedures for all students.

Distraction-Free School

As a reminder to our Gotham families, personal internet-enabled devices are not permitted for student use during the school day in accordance with New York State’s Distraction-Free Schools law and district expectations. This includes personal cell phones, smartwatches, tablets, and other internet-enabled devices.

We kindly ask families to review this expectation with their children at home and remind them that personal devices should remain stored away and unused throughout the school day. Our goal is to keep students focused, engaged, and connected to their learning and one another.
